Derby-based Atlas Building & Civil Engineering has become the latest groundwork and drainage specialist to fall victim to the house building slowdown.

The firm, which operated across the Midlands, south Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, has ceased trading with the loss of around 40 jobs and filed for administration.

Director Jamie Lord said: “The downturn  in housing simply made it unsustainable to continue because all the work has dried up.”

Atlas has been in business since 1998 predominantly delivering housing infrastructure.

Current owners Jamie Lord and Wayne Foster took charge of the company in 2008, when the financial crisis then dictated that a change of size and management structure.
