Fit-out contractor Portview has taken control of Fulham FC’s new Riverside Stand project following the collapse of original main contractor Buckingham Group.

The Enquirer understands Portview were directly appointed last summer by Fulham to complete the interior fit-out of the revamped stand at Craven Cottage post completion of the base-build by Buckingham Group.

Portview Chief Operating Officer Paul Lavery said: “Since the unfortunate demise of Buckingham Group, we have picked up some of the remaining outstanding items of their work and continue to work closely with the Club on this exciting project.”

The scheme has been dogged by delays with Fulham not now expecting the redeveloped stand to fully open until the start of the 2024/25 season.

Construction started in 2019 and was originally due to finish in 2021.

In a construction update last month Fulham said: “We have experienced delays in the project from the outset.

“Many of the principal delay factors include addressing difficult site conditions during the demolition of the old stand, as well as remedying issues arising out of the construction of the new stand.

“Whilst it has taken time to address these factors, good progress is now being made on the fit-out phase and we will start to open first class spaces in the new stand during 2024.”

On Buckingham’s other former football stadium jobs Liverpool FC has appointed Rayner Rowen Construction to complete the Anfield Road stand and Birmingham City FC called in Mace to oversee the Tilton Lower and Kop Lower stands.
