The first of the projects, The Star Radcliffe Academy in Bury, was granted planning this month and will be a five-form entry, 750-place, 11-16 secondary school. The first phase of the estimated £30m project is set to open in September 2024 under the fast track build programme.

Also scheduled to open in September next year is the Pear Tree Academy, new SEND school in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport operated by the Prospere Learning Trust. The school will specialise in catering for students with severe learning difficulties and other associated needs for young people aged 11-18.

Throughout the build programmes for all four projects, Morgan Sindall will deploy its Intelligent Solutions approach to bring together digital and platform design with modern construction methods and innovative carbon reduction tools.

Simon Arnott, managing director for Morgan Sindall Construction in the North West said: “We are  proud to be delivering these three new schools for Greater Manchester, as well as our ongoing work at Newhouse Academy, working collaboratively with the DfE and the respective Academy Trusts

“Working on so many education projects across the region simultaneously presents us with a unique opportunity to make a really significant contribution to the region’s educational offer and local economy – an opportunity we’re determined to deliver on.”
