Caddick has secured the first phase of developer Cole Waterhouse’s £260m regeneration project in Digbeth.

The 180,000 sq ft residential project kicks off a wider regeneration of Upper Trinity Street and will comprise 211 flats delivered in three blocks, the tallest of which is 10 storeys high.

Construction will commence imminently following demolition and enabling works.

The scheme’s Pump House Park is designed around the historic lock keepers cottage which is to be retained and renovated

Designed by Corstorphine & Wright, the full Cole Waterhouse UTS scheme will deliver a mix of rentable and open market sales homes, some with live-work space, a 133-bedroom hotel, 60,000 sq ft of commercial space, car parking and large new areas of public realm.

The development of around eight buildings, one rising to up to 31-storeys is expected to create 600 jobs during the construction phase.

Ray O’Sullivan, Regional Managing Director for Caddick Construction Midlands, said: “Cole Waterhouse has visualised an ambitious and impressive masterplan to create a thriving creative and cultural hub at Upper Trinity Street, and we’re proud to have been appointed to bring this vision to life in phase one.

“Caddick has built its extensive expertise delivering high-quality residential projects across the North, and as we take on new and exciting projects in the Midlands.”

The project marks Caddick’s second major regeneration development in the Midlands, adding to the nearby Port Loop scheme, which has seen Caddick build 58 new-build apartments on behalf of Urban Splash and Places for People.
