Hammersmith and Fulham Council backed the developer’s plans to create 140 homes, a 65-bed care home and new community space on the 3.87-acre site, originally opened by King George V in 1933 as the Royal Masonic Hospital.
Designed by SPPARC, the scheme will restore and convert all four red-brick Grade II* listed blocks on the site – untouched since the hospital’s closure in 2006 – with a later 1970s block to be replaced.
The revived scheme will reintroduce distinctive modernist design features including welded steel balconies, geometric brickwork and marble interiors. Public gardens and community spaces will also open the closed-off site for the first time in decades.
TT Group, which acquired the site in 2022, is targeting a start on site next year with completion expected in 2028.
