City Building (Glasgow) finds extra framework firms

Council-owned contractor City Building (Glasgow) has expanded its line up of favoured specialist trade contractors after too few firms bid first time round.

City Building, which was set up six years ago from the former Building Services Department of Glasgow City Council, has built up annual turnover to around £200m mainly working on housing jobs in the city.

The firm went out to the market in August 2011 to set up a supply chain of specialists, but the framework competition failed to attract enough firms. City Building retendered last August and has now signed up more firms to its frameworks.

The expanded frameworks will run until 2014, with options to extend for another two years. Previously successful firms will remain on board.
