Lend Lease is promoting Roy Allport to run its expanding Scottish business.

Allport is currently Operations Director and will succeed Gordon Anderson in October when he retires after 40 years at the company.

Anderson will stay in place until the end of 2013 to ensure a smooth transition to his successor as both men work in tandem.

In the last 12 months Anderson has guided Lend Lease’s Scottish business to a string of major contract wins including the £89m University of Strathclyde Technology and Innovation Centre, the £23m replacement Mearns Academy and the £25m replacement Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health at the University of Aberdeen.

Anderson, who joined the company from engineering college in 1973, said: “I am pleased to announce my successor as head of Lend Lease’s Scottish operation is Roy Allport, a man whom our partners and customers know very well.

“Although he officially takes over the reins at the start of October, we will work together until the end of the year, allowing a smooth transition. It will be business as usual.

“Roy joined the company 25 years ago and has worked for me during the last 19.

“Throughout this time he has been a loyal, dedicated and committed member of my team, and seven years ago was promoted to Operations Director. His latest promotion is well deserved and he has my complete confidence.

“I am proud both personally and professionally to leave Lend Lease in Scotland in a very strong position, despite the backdrop of challenging times in the industry.

“We are in good shape, with our business in Scotland forecasting a turnover greater than £130m for our next financial year and continuing to grow into new sectors.”

Simon Hipperson, Lend Lease’s Chief Executive in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: “We are sorry to see Gordon leave after 40 years of service and I would like to thank him for his contribution to our success.

“We are confident that Roy will continue to grow our Scottish business in line with our ambitious plans for the rest of the region.”
