Until today the involvement of chemical giant Dow as a main Olympic sponsor precluded concrete and its constituent materials from receiving licences under the Supplier Recognition Scheme.
Concrete products trade body British Precast has welcomed a decision by the IOC in Lausanne to lift the ban.
Chief Executive Martin Clarke said: “I am very grateful to the staff of the British Olympic Association and their Supplier Recognition Scheme for agreeing to take our case with their support to the IOC and for securing a positive decision.”

He added: “I am encouraging the other 12 members who supplied the London Games to apply for an SRS licence forthwith.”
A BOA spokesperson said: “The BOA has worked closely with the International Olympic Committee and we are delighted that we are now in a position to grant Supplier Recognition Scheme licences to precast concrete suppliers, recognising the important role the industry played in the staging of the Games.
“We are committed to ensuring as many British businesses as possible benefit from the Supplier Recognition Scheme and we are now in the process of reaching out to other members of the precast concrete community who are eligible for the Scheme.”
