Lend Lease is project managing the job with Arup acting as geological and civil engineering consultant for the Amanda Levete Architects designed project.
Industry big guns BAM, Balfour Beatty, Mace, Skanska and Wates are understood to be chasing the prestigious underground gallery job, which forms part of a major overhaul programme.
Meanwhile, Dartford fit-out specialist Coniston has just started a near £5m job to modernise seven galleries at the V&A.
The two-year task will see structural demolition and a complete refit to modernise space to house art and design object from Europe 1600-1800.
The firm is also bidding to replace the roof at the V&A’s Cast Court Room worth up to £800,000.
