Jones Bros Civil Engineering is continuing its push into south Wales and the south of England with the opening of a new regional office in Swansea.

The north Wales based firm is expanding across the south of the UK following its move into Scotland earlier this year with a new office in Linlithgow.

The new southern operation is headed by four industry experts with more than 100 years’ experience between them.

Regional manager Neil Beresford  said: “Jones Bros is a family-owned firm which is rightly proud of its Welsh roots, but it is cosmopolitan in its outlook and offers a professional management service to its clients.

“We aim to strengthen the service and support we offer to customers in the southern half of the UK, and broaden our client offering while retaining our core expertise.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to widen the reach of a rapidly-growing firm that has managed to retain its family feel, and I speak for the whole team when I say I cannot wait to get started.”

Working alongside Beresford will be regional commercial manager Ken Stacey, regional contracts manager Joe McLaughlin and regional pre-contracts manager Martin Edmonds.

Jones Bros has grown rapidly in the last decade and now employs 270 people in total. The privately-owned firm is currently working on around 20 projects around the UK.

In Wales, these include new sea defences at Tywyn, the £35m Porthmadog bypass in partnership with Balfour Beatty and a new eco-friendly visitor centre at Aberthaw power station, near Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Jones Bros recently completed a £20m contract to build the infrastructure for the 60-turbine Crystal Rig II windfarm in Dunbar, Scotland which enabled the firm to open its Scottish office.

Jones Bros managing director Huw Jones said: “We have assembled a phenomenally strong regional team which has impressive industry know-how and is respected throughout the industry.

“The southern half of the UK is an important growth area for Jones Bros, as demonstrated by our recent work on the visitor centre at Aberthaw power station, and I am confident that our permanent presence in the south will enhance our offering for new and existing clients.

“The fact that we have been able to open our second regional office in less than a year, and continue our expansion despite the ongoing economic uncertainty, is testament to the fantastic work that continues to be done by everyone at Jones Bros.”
