Wates and Morgan Sindall have won the latest Scape frameworks with a combined value of up to £133m.

The deal is the third £100m+ award by the public sector procurement body in recent weeks.

The contract will run for four years from this month and is for a regional framework arrangement for empa (the East Midlands Property Alliance) which is managed by Scape.

Wates and Morgan Sindall have been awarded a share of empa’s Intermediate framework for contracts valued between £2m and £7.5m.

This contract is one of five empa framework contracts to be awarded in early 2014.

Wates’ contract will cover the northern area of the region, including Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire with a total value of £88m.

Morgan Sindall’s contract will cover the southern area of the region, including Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Warwickshire and Peterborough with a total value of £45m.

Phil Harrison, managing director, Wates Construction Midlands and North, said: “Our appointment to the empa Intermediate framework is further evidence of our proven track record of working in partnership with Scape to facilitate the efficient procurement and construction of public sector building works across the East Midlands.

Morgan Sindall area director, Richard Fielding, said: “We’re delighted to have been re-appointed to the empa framework. Since our appointment to the framework in 2009, we have delivered a range of education, commercial and leisure projects across the region.

“This success affirms our ability to consistently deliver quality schemes while working closely with local communities, subcontractors and suppliers and we look forward to continuing to work closely with our public sector clients and our partners at Scape.”

Head of empa Alan Coole said: “The empa framework contracts cover work for clients on all types of public sector buildings including schools, colleges, universities, housing, care homes, leisure facilities, libraries and many more.

“Our framework contracts are all about giving our public sector clients peace of mind.  They know that by using empa, our framework contractors have been through our extremely thorough tender processes.

“Clients know therefore that they will receive excellent value for money, see projects delivered on time and to a high standard.

“Both Wates and Morgan Sindall demonstrated how they would deliver this through their submissions and I would like to congratulate them on their success.”

Scape has numerous frameworks operating nationally including Major Works; Minor Works; Asset Management, Surveying and Design Services and Project Management and Quantity Surveying.

It operates regional frameworks across the wider East Midlands on behalf of empa and its members.  The total value of Scape’s frameworks comes to more than £2.5bn.
