The £125m private contracting group has been acquired by a new company, One Group Construction, which is led by Richard Neall, group chief executive of SEH.
The group, which employs around 500 staff across a dozen separate specialist contracting businesses was founded in 1971 by Emmerson.
It has grown through a combination businesses started from scratch and acquisitions, like Jackson Civil Engineering in 2004.
One Group Construction will boast 20 offices from Kent to Yorkshire, although continue to trade as individual brands.

Emmerson retains a non-equity investment in One Group Construction.
He said, said: “It was very important to my family that the group remained privately owned. Whilst a business of our size must be highly organised, we have proven it doesn’t have to be overly corporate or political. We were very keen to keep it that way.”
