Contractor Barr is tipped to seal the deal to redevelop Bristol City FC’s Ashton Gate stadium.

The firm is one of several contractors that have been involved in talks including the Buckingham Group and Sir Robert McAlpine.

But according to sources Barr is the front-runner to be selected by the club to redevelop the stadium over the next three years.

Under the plan, the club’s Williams and Wedlock stands will be rebuilt to increase the ground’s capacity from 21,500 to 27,000.

Capita Symonds is already on board to handle project and cost management.
