The victim died from a head injury following the incident which is believed to have involved a dumper truck at the site in Knotty Ash last Thursday.
Emergency services were called to the Redrow ‘Summerhill Park’ housing development on Thingwall Lane just after midday.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service told the Liverpool Echo: “It would appear that he was knocked over and received a very, very serious head injury. He was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Steve Greenhalgh, regional director of Redrow Homes Lancashire, said: “It was with great sadness I learned of this tragic incident at our construction site on Thingwall Lane.
“Our thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of the man, who was working on our site as a subcontractor.
“The incident remains the subject of investigation by the relevant authorities, including the Health and Safety Executive, with whom we are co-operating.
“We cannot comment on the circumstances at this stage pending the outcome of those investigations.”
The 525-homes site was closed for the rest of the week.
