The appointment on Monday follows weeks of uncertainty at the concrete giant.
Workers were pulled off a string of jobs late last month leaving just a handful of sites operational.
And the Enquirer understands that operatives on the remaining sites staged protests last Friday when their wages were delayed.
One site source said: “The word has been out on Harrington for weeks and they only had a few jobs left going.
“Now those have stopped and it will be interesting to see what happens with other group companies.”
Group companies not affected by the administration include Structural Systems (UK) and PC Harrington Formwork.
Harrington still had 150 operatives on Mace’s massive Nova project in Victoria but they left the job on Monday.
