Work is due to start on the £11m project this spring with the first sheds available for businesses in early 2017.
Aurora Stockport will transform an 18 acre derelict site close to Stockport town centre with 10 light industrial sheds ranging from 8,700 sq ft to 47,000 sq ft.
Located alongside junction 1 of the M60 and only 8 miles from Manchester Airport, Aurora Stockport will give companies the opportunity to run their business from new premises in one of the best connected locations in the North West.
Aurora Stockport is one of the growth projects being undertaken as part of the council’s Investing in Stockport programme.
The £900m investment programme will see Stockport build on its strengths through a range of ambitious projects, each aimed at making the town an even better place to live, work and visit.
Councillor Patrick McAuley, Executive Member for Thriving Economy at Stockport Council said: “I am delighted to welcome Seddon Construction to the Aurora Stockport team. The standard of tenders received was very high and I am confident that Seddon will help us achieve our vision of transforming this area of our town into a thriving industrial park.
“I am excited about how work on our Growth projects is pressing ahead at the moment. Not only do we have a number of projects on site, but over recent weeks we have been able to make a number of announcements about companies such as Holiday Inn Express investing in the town centre. The fact the first units at Aurora Stockport will be available in early 2017 will help our town grow even further.”
The council’s property partners, Carillion and CBRE, are acting as development manager and project manager. CBRE has also been appointed letting agent.
