She was also former chief executive officer of Capital Hospitals, which led the consortium responsible for delivering the £1bn redevelopment of the St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London hospitals in central London.
Her new remit includes bids as well as looking for ways to further improve the operation of the unit.
Matthew Inskip, currently project director for facilities services at Barts and the London, is being promoted to the position of operations director.
He joins two incumbent operations directors, John Chown and Mike Bartlam.
They will work for managing director Katy Dowding, who expanded the company’s facilities services operation into new sectors, including the local authority market last year.
This included the asset and total facilities management contact for Woking Borough Council, maintaining 63 sites within the borough over a four-year period.
Dowding said: “Skanska is entering a period of significant expansion, as the economy picks up and the strategic decisions we have made over recent years start to bear fruit.
“I am strengthening my senior team to ensure that we have the capacity and resilience needed to meet our goals over the coming years.”
