J Reddington made its first appearance at the top of the monthly league of contracts won in March after securing a major residential building job in Brighton.

The £235m redevelopment of Brighton marina has gone to the group’s main contracting arm Midgard, which has begun piling on the site ahead of main construction.

The overall programme for phase 1 will run to two years, and completion of the basement up to the podium level will be completed by late summer.

Lagan and Ferrovial came in joint winners for most civils work secured last month after bagging as the Scots Roads Partnership an equal share of the £450m M8 M73 M74 improvements project for Scottish Government.

GMI also made a rare appearance among the top rankings after winning a £135m contract with Lateral Property for retail development and a country park in Castleford.

Willmott Dixon was confirmed as main contractor on the £70m stadium job for joint clients, Brentford FC and Lionel Road Development, despite several other firms aiming to take the job at the last minute.

In the rolling 12-month league, Balfour Beatty maintained it position at the top with a total haul of £1.9bn, topped up with a £47m collection of wins in March.

Kier also maintained its clear second place with a £500m breathing space ahead of the chasing pack of Carillion, Costain and Mace, now battling it out for the remaining top five places.
