Hollingshead brings over 35 years of experience of delivering major global infrastructure projects. He will take up the reins at Murphy Group in June steering its expansion programme.
He said: “It is a great privilege to be joining one of the industry’s leading infrastructure companies. With its rich heritage of innovative solutions, ability to self-deliver and entrepreneurial culture, Murphy has a very unique place in the industry and is ideally positioned to capitalise on the growing opportunities in the market.”
Hollingshead began his career with Taylor Woodrow Construction before joining O’Rourke in 1989.
He became construction director of the firm in 1991 and played a key role in O’Rourke Group’s acquisition of Laing Construction in October 2001 before being appointed as managing director of Laing O’Rourke London and South East.
In 2010, he moved to Brisbane as CEO of the Australia Hub before returning to the UK in 2013 as group human capital director.
Hollingshead parted company with O’Rourke in December 2013 and joined Tidal Lagoon Power as construction director for the planned £850m scheme in Swansea Bay last June.
Alastair Kerr, chairman of the Murphy Board, said: “Steve brings a wealth of knowledge. His experience will be instrumental in growing Murphy’s activities both in the UK and overseas.”
