Network Rail Infrastructure is on the hunt for three contractors to deliver a £650m programme of building and civils work on the Scotland and London North Eastern routes.

Successful suppliers will deliver more than 1,000 maintenance, renewals and enhancements projects, improving earthworks, bridges, tunnels, footbridges and station buildings

The framework has been split into three lots for the CP6 spending period and will come into force from January 2019 and run until March 2025.

Under present plans tenders for the rejigged framework will be invited from shortlisted firms in April.

The new arrangement will replace previous specialist work packages let to several contractors wrapped up into a single contractor deal.

Currently Amalgamated Construction, Taziker Industrial, Construction Marine, Balfour Beatty, and Story Contracting have each carried out specialist works for structures, viaducts and station buildings.

Renewals and Enhancements Framework

  • Lot 1. Scotland and North England – Focus on multi-discipline enhancements, buildings and structures works across the Scotland and LNE Routes. Value is expected to be £320m, but could rise to £950m.
  • Lot 2. Scotland – focus on structures works predominantly across the Scotland Route with a requirement to deliver Enhancements and Buildings.  Value £135m, but could rise to £450m
  • Lot 3. London and North England – focus on structures works predominantly across the LNE Route with a requirement to deliver Enhancements and Buildings. Total value £190m, which could rise to £500m

Scotland and North Eastern is one of four regionally based project delivery businesses which supports the Scotland and London North Eastern routes.
