The SE1 development, on the corner of Abbey Street and Druid Street near London Bridge station, will deliver homes for key workers including NHS staff, teachers, police officers and firefighters under Southwark Council’s emerging Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Guidance and the Greater London Authority’s Key Worker Living Rent policy.
Bouygues plans to start construction next year with completion targeted in 2030.
The scheme will also include a new community centre with flexible event space, public realm improvements and landscaped open areas.
Oliver Campbell, managing director of Bouygues UK’s development arm, said: “This planning approval represents a crucial milestone and demonstrates the viability and importance of this scheme.
“We are now in a strong position to progress funding and begin construction to deliver these much-needed homes to the highest standards.”
Southwark Council said the project would create a blueprint for future key worker housing developments across the borough and wider London.
