The deal is one of a hat-trick signed off in recent weeks that will start a wave on construction activity at the £1bn business park development at junction 8 of the M62.
Travis Perkins’ new regional hub will sit within the 1.6m sq ft of logistics space consented on Omega North.
Construction of the 700,000 sq ft shed is due to begin in mid-2013 for completion later next year.
A week ago Miller Developments and partner KUC Properties signed up parcels business Hermes as the second occupier for Omega North following the December announcement about catering supplier Brakes taking a 200,000 sq ft shed, which was the first building project to get underway.
This takes signed space to over 1m sq ft so far on Omega North.
A new 600,000 sq ft distribution centre earmarked for Asda has also been granted planning permission on the larger Omega South site.
Andrew Sutherland, joint managing director of Miller Developments, said: “The level of occupier success we have achieved at Omega North since Christmas is unprecedented throughout not only the North West but the whole of the UK.
“The fact that, subject to planning being granted, we have only two small sites left on Omega North demonstrates that we have now created a major logistics hub in the North West.”
The two sites left on Omega North are 2.9 acres close to junction 8 on the motorway frontage, and 3.2 acres next to Brakes. Both sites are capable of meeting requirements for 50,000 sq ft of logistics accommodation.
The joint venture has now secured planning consent for the first two phases comprising up to 1.6m sq ft of logistics centre to the north of the M62 and around 1.5m sq ft of offices and hotel to the southern part of the site accessed directly off Junction 8 on the M62.
