Britain’s biggest steelwork contractor will use the platform to launch a new bridges team as part of its ongoing strategy to diversify in expanding markets like infrastructure.
Severfield would not say how many of the former 150-strong infrastructure team had been taken on, but the team will continue to be located in Chepstow out of new Severfield office promises.
A source told the Enquirer that most of the original Mabey bridges team were being taken on.
All manufacturing for secured bridge work will be carried out at Severfield’s Lostock factory.
Ian Lawson, chief executive officer of Severfield said: “We are delighted to recruit a large number of employees from the Mabey Bridge business.
“It provides us with a fantastic opportunity to enhance and expand our current bridge capabilities which is excellent news for clients.”
