The Enquirer understands staff were briefed earlier this week about his departure after nearly ten years at the business.
Fossey joined McGee in 2017 from Laing O’Rourke where he spent 14 years as a project manager on major sites worldwide before becoming the firm’s Technical Leader.
He took over the running as MD of McGee in 2019.
Fossey is being replaced by Bernard O’Reilly who steps up from his current role as Operations Director.
A McGee statement said: “Following a constructive and carefully managed succession process, Seb Fossey will step down from his role as Group Managing Director and will leave the business on 31 October 2026, after nearly a decade of leading McGee.
“Seb will remain available to support the business and ensure a smooth transition.
“Bernard O’Reilly has been appointed as Managing Director with immediate effect. Bernard brings extensive delivery experience, deep knowledge of the organisation and its people, and a strong understanding of McGee’s projects and client relationships. This makes him exceptionally well positioned to lead the company into its next phase.
“Under Seb’s leadership, McGee has undergone significant transformation. The business has evolved from a demolition and groundwork subcontractor into a specialist engineering contractor offering a broad range of integrated services. The company will continue to focus on technical excellence, disciplined delivery, and operating in sectors and projects where its capabilities deliver the greatest value.
“Bernard will build on the platform Seb has established, with a focus on continuing to deliver high-quality engineering solutions for clients and partners, while supporting the company’s employee-owners.”
