The pharma giant has been given the green light by Cambridge City Council for a six-storey block on Francis Crick Avenue that will accommodate up to 736 workers.
The scheme is geared around collaboration and large-scale events, with plans including a 200-person conference centre, a 450-seat auditorium and a 110-cover restaurant alongside office space.
The project forms part of AstraZeneca’s long-term strategy to bring its Cambridge-based workforce together in one location, strengthening links between research, commercial teams and partner organisations.
The new block will sit at the heart of the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, one of Europe’s leading life sciences clusters.
Designs for the scheme were prepared by Jestico + Whiles as part of the wider masterplan led by Herzog & de Meuron.
The project team also includes Ramboll on civils and structures, MEP and transport.
