McCormick, who has served as group chief financial officer for the past 12 years, will take over on 1 September following the retirement of long-serving chief executive Andrew Bill after more than 40 years with the business.
The leadership handover comes as the privately-owned contractor reported revenue up 16% to £1.23bn for the year to 31 March 2026, while pre-tax profit surged 42% to £36m.
Graham also strengthened its balance sheet with cash reserves rising to £261m and net assets increasing to £114m.
The contractor’s growth was driven by strong performances across its building, civil engineering, interior fit-out, facilities management and investment businesses, backed by a string of high-profile project wins.
Major successes during the year included the £286m Cambridge Halls redevelopment for Unite Students and Manchester Metropolitan University, appointments to the Department for Education’s £15bn CF25 framework and the Hospital 2.0 Alliance, plus the £71m Central Docks Infrastructure Scheme at Liverpool Waters.
The business also secured a place on National Highways’ £968m Legacy Concrete Roads Reconstruction Framework and expanded in the Republic of Ireland after winning the BusConnects Core Bus Corridor scheme in Dublin.
Chairman Michael Graham paid tribute to Bill’s leadership, saying he leaves the business “in a position of considerable strength.”
