It was a bit like watching a bull fight in Barcelona with Man City playing the part of the wounded big beast.
Lionel Messi was definitely the matador. The little Argentinian was a joy to watch.
Poor old James Milner could have done with a third leg as he was nutmegged at will by Messi.
It’s been a humbling few weeks for the Premier League as our leading lights crumbled on the European stage.
Sky TV might still bill it as the best league in the world but the evidence of this week begs to differ.
That’s not to say we won’t all be back this weekend shouting on our local heroes.
Well I won’t actually.
I’ve decided to give my season ticket seat a miss at West Ham this Saturday.
The game has been moved to an annoying 5.30 slot to suit TV.
And West Ham are just clueless under Sam Allardyce at the moment while visitors Sunderland are even worse.
There could be a few empty seats at Upton Park as punters vote with their feet against poor football and kick-off times that ruin your Saturday night out.
But I’ll still be keeping an interest in games elsewhere in another desperate bid to pull out of a losing tailspin.
So far 2015 has been a shocker so it’s time to take a chance with a weekend accumulator.
I like the look of Arsenal away at Newcastle, Spurs at home to Leicester, Liverpool to beat Man Utd at Anfield and Chelsea to win away at Hull.
There’s a couple of bankers in there and a few riskier ones but the accumulator pays 8/1.
I’ll be cheering that on from my sofa while I watch the rugby.
