Procurement chiefs at the university have asked interested firms to complete a questionnaire before holding a suppliers’ day to set out more detailed plans.
The centre will drive innovation in technology-led companies and stimulate new high-tech firm start-ups by providing ready access to the University’s research and innovation.
Under the present plan, the University aims to start procurement around the spring of next year for the planned a 100,000 sq ft Innovation and Enterprise Centre. This will be built off Woodhouse Lane on a plot in the south east corner of the main campus.
It is looking for firms with a proven track record of delivering office and or education projects in the last three years worth more than £15m.

It is the second major project due to go out to tender of the next few months. The University is also preparing to start tendering for a new £60m science and computing building at its city campus.
The North Eastern Quarter building will house the Bragg Centre for advanced materials and imaging and create new homes for the schools of computing and physics and astronomy.
This will involve redeveloping the old mining building and demolishing the estates building and central boiler house.
Galliford Try picked up a brace of contracts in September, and will revamp the engineering building at the university’s main campus as part of a £22.5m scheme. Its will also carry out a £15.3m overhaul of the university’s Grade II listed Edward Boyle Library.
