CITB-ConstructionSkills will launch its new Health, Safety and Environment Test next April.

The new format replaces the existing Health and Safety Test which was taken by more than 500,000 people this year.

New features of the Test include:

• A fully refreshed and updated question bank including the new universal hazard symbols;
• Questions on respiratory risks and the hazards they can pose;
• Knowledge questions on the environment;
• Behavioural case studies which tests how a candidate would respond to health and safety situations to highlight safe working practices on site.

Chris Little, CITB-ConstructionSkills Product Delivery Manager, said: “Consulting with industry we have refreshed the question bank and the Test structure to include new sections and questions addressing the changing needs of the whole construction industry both locally and nationally.

“As a result, the Test itself has become more robust with greater emphasis on safe working practices.

“CITB-ConstructionSkills in constantly working on behalf of the industry to improve the Test which should be seen as a stepping stone to encourage employers and their workforce to go on and develop their knowledge even further.”
