Latest results from FCC showed that more than half of its total revenue of £2bn during the first quarter of this year came from outside Spain.
The UK is one of the firm’s fastest growing markets with turnover up 15.5% during the quarter.
FCC is targeting major infrastructure projects and is part of a consortium bidding for the £600m Mersey gateway scheme.
The firm said: “The positive performance of infrastructure and environmental services activities outside Spain offset the 14.4% decline in revenues in Spain.”
“Revenues in the UK improved by 15.5%, driven mainly by the construction of a new waste treatment plant and several other infrastructure projects under way.”
FCC is currently finishing the fit-out of the 2012 Media Centre and working on two Crossrail sections via its subsidiary Alpine BeMo Tunnelling
The firm first entered the UK via subsidiary Fosca in the environmental services market and now operates 250 waste management centres through its WRG division.
