According to construction information specialist Glenigan, which compiles the leagues, Morgan Sindall continued its winning streak ranking second in the monthly league and maintaining its run at the top of the annualised league table with an estimated £2.7bn haul of orders.

Laing O’Rourke and Kier remain in the chase in second and third places, but Galliford Try’s strong order haul in April lifted the firm into fourth place in the 12-month rankings of accumulated orders.

Developer Silvertown Partnership – comprising Chelsfield, First Base and Australian firm Macquarie Capital – chose the firm to deliver 3,000 new homes at the £5 billion regeneration of the Silvertown district of east London.

The firm will enlist a modular construction specialist to deliver the programme.

Galliford Try netted a £128m deal for Notting Hill housing association at Great Eastern Quays in London’s Royal Docks and will build the second phase of the Stephenson Quarter project in Newcastle.

Vinci strengthened its position in the student accommodation market with a £165m deal to build 2,300 rooms at Keele University’s campus over the next five years.

Clugston bagged the civils and building package for a £252m waste recycling plant in Avonmouth for client Viridor. The deal is the 11th signed by the firm in the energy from waste sector.

And Irish duo, Farrans and Roadbridge, share an £85m pipeline project in Cumbria for United Utilities.
