McLaughlin & Harvey are one of the leading Building and Civil Engineering Contractors operating throughout the UK and Ireland.

We are seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Contractual Advisor to join the team.

Responsibilities

The role of Senior Contractual Advisor is to provide contractual advice and guidance to our Pre-Construction and Construction teams to help deliver our projects to the standard expected from one of the leading contractors in the UK and Ireland.

Our Contractual Advisors are an integral part of our business and the role will be exciting and varied. The duties will range from reviewing and negotiating complex contract amendments, assessing contractual risks and assisting with contract administration. The Senior Contractual Advisor will report to the Commercial Director, whilst liaising with both the Pre-Construction and Construction departments.

As Senior Contractual Advisor your day to day duties will include:

• Reviewing and negotiating main contract amendments, on contract values ranging from £10M to £150M+
• Generating subcontract documents incorporating main contract step-downs
• Assisting the project teams in negotiating the terms and conditions of subcontract packages
• Delivering advice on how the main contract/subcontract operates
• Provide ad hoc support on contractual matters
• Prepare and deliver training seminars on standard forms and amended contract terms

Qualifications

Essential

• Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent qualification in Law or a Construction related field such as Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or Project Management
• A working knowledge of the NEC and JCT suite of contracts

Desirable

• A qualification in Construction Law, ICE LCMC or similar would be beneficial however not essential

Experience

• 5+ years relative experience within a similar role
