The development will comprise 84 houses and 16 flats providing a mix of homes ranging from two-bedroom flats to three-bedroom houses. It will also include two two-bedroom wheelchair accessible homes.
The project is set to realise a 15% reduction in CO2 emissions which will be achieved by utilising a number of environmental features including: solar panels, low U-value windows, high efficiency boilers, zone controlled heating systems and high specification insulation to floors, walls and roofs.
This is East Lothian Council’s largest single development of affordable housing in the last 25 years and work is scheduled for completion in summer 2012.
Ken Macarthur, General Manager of Mansell Partnership Homes said: “We are delighted to be working with East Lothian Council on this important development.
“We have established an excellent working relationship with the Council’s Housing Team who have a committed desire of providing new affordable homes within the area. As well as successfully delivering the construction works, we are keen to replicate the joint success of this development elsewhere within East Lothian”.
