The huge school building plan offers contractors hope of filling some of the gap in workload left by cuts to the BSF programme in England.
Bids are being invited by more than a dozen local authorities for a £400m framework to build and refurbish schools under the South East Wales Schools and Public Buildings Contractor Framework.
Work packages will be divided up into lots valued from around £1.5m up to £100m.
The four-year school improvement framework will cover schools in Cardiff, Newport and local borough councils in the south east, including Roman Catholic diocese schools.
The framework is being handled by Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council.
Interested contractors have until 6 October to contact Mark Muller at the procurement department. Email firstname.lastname@example.org . procurement is also being conducted through the Alito procurement Portal: email@example.com
