The project has gone out to tender again after the existing competition expired because of delays getting approval for access rights to the swimming pool building, which needed several design changes as a result.
Head of leisure and cultural services Grant Ward said: “A contractor couldn’t be appointed while the access issues remained unresolved and this tender process has now expired.”
The new building will replace the existing Fife Institute of Physical and Recreational Education.
Designs have reached RIBA Stage F/G and comprise a new eight-lane championship 25m main swimming and training pool, alongside an eight badminton court sports hall.
Outdoor football training pitches will also be upgraded as part of the job.
PQQs need to be returned by 29 November and forms can be found on http://www.publiccontractsscotland.gov.uk/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=1… The tendering process is being handled by Alan Faulds in corporate assets management at Fife Council.
