Cumbria County Council is inviting tenders to rebuild the Northside bridge in Workington, swept away in the huge flood two years ago.
The detailed design is currently being finalised by the council but the job will consist of building a 152 m, long 3 span composite steel/concrete highway bridge.
The bridge over the river Derwent is to be constructed on a similar line to the previous structure, and is to be opened by May 2012.
Interested contractors can get more information from [email protected]. PQQs must be returned by 23 December.
Morgan Est completed a temporary structure for the council earlier this year, completing it in record time.
The temporary bridge was named in honour of PC Bill Barker, who was swept to his death while warning away traffic from the collapsing main road bridge through the town.
