Under the deal understood to be worth £12m, the contractor will demolish exiting buildings to make way for the low carbon new facilities.
The schools will be among the country’s first schools classified as ‘Outstanding’ under BREEAM guidelines – achieving a remarkable 90% reduction in carbon footprint compared to 2002 Building Regulations.
The new 2,700 sq m Esh Winning Primary School will accommodate 270 pupils and provide a 39-place nursery.
Community facilities include a library and rooms for local groups and training.
The larger 2,800 sq m Brandon Primary School will accommodate 390 pupils and provide a 26-place nursery and a 28-place day care facility.
The schools will feature a host of sustainability features include bio mass boilers, photovoltaic panels, solar water heating and earth tubes.
