Work will start on the 10,000 square metres scheme next week.
The Hadyn Ellis Building is a science-led facility for post-graduate medical research that will house lecture theatres, clinics, laboratory spaces and office accommodation.
It will feature an imposing atrium, zinc cladding and a concrete cantilevered staircase, and range between three-four and five storeys.
It is the first time that BAM and Cardiff University have worked together.
BAM project manager Justin Price said: “We are very keen indeed to show Cardiff University what we can do and to develop a strong relationship.
“In very competitive market conditions we’ve secured this prestigious development of a highly sophisticated building which will look really impressive. We’re excited about our new partnership and working with the University and its community.”
Architect for the job is Nightingale Associates, BDP are the structural engineers and Aecom will design the M&E services.
Professor Tim Wess, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Estates at Cardiff University said: “We are very pleased to be working with BAM Construction on this highly prestigious project – a project which, we hope, the local community and the city of Cardiff can be proud of.”
