The 11-storey building, which is being built in collaboration with the developer Stoford, will be built on the former David Street car park in the city centre, a designated development zone.
Endorsed by the Design Commission for Wales, Glenn Howells Architects’ proposed building will meet the BREEAM ‘excellent’ standard of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.
It will feature a pale stone clad finish and large expanses of glass to maximise natural daylight on every floor.
The building will be serviced by a below ground car park for up to 120 vehicles.
Sandeep Shambi, project architect at Glenn Howells Architects, said: “Having the excellent opportunity to work so closely with the team that will ultimately occupy the building has enabled us to create a truly flexible, bespoke environment that meets Admiral’s specific working requirements as well as designing a building that Cardiff will be justifiably proud of.”
