Leadbitter has won the main construction contract for the special education needs school designed by Frankham Consultancy Group.
Cliff Thomas, Regional Director of Leadbitter’s Central Construction division, said: “This is an ambitious and complex project, and our reputation for working closely with communities to deliver this type of scheme has no doubt helped us in securing the contract in a very competitive tendering process.
“We are all looking forward to delivering an exemplar new school for the children of Brent who have specialist learning needs.”
The outdated Hay Lane and Grove Park Schools are being demolished and will merge to become The Village School.
Temporary premises have been installed on the grounds of Kingsbury High School, where 150 pupils will begin their new school year in September 2011. The Village School will open its doors in time for the summer term of 2013.
Brent Borough Council is contributing £21m to the project whilst the government is providing an additional £8m of funding.
