The Scunthorpe contractor’s joint venture with French process contractor CNIM is the third big contract secured in the expanding EfW sector.
Projects in Staffordshire and Lincolnshire were started earlier in the year. Clugston’s civils contract on the £205m plant at Ardley near Bicester in Oxfordshire is expected to be worth up to £35m.
Once constructed the plant will divert from landfill at least 95 per cent of the residual waste delivered to the facility, while also generating 24 megawatts of electricity – enough to power over 38,000 households.
Steve Radcliffe, managing director of Clugston Construction said: “We are delighted with the approval to commence site activities, which means we look forward to starting construction works on another exciting EfW project with our partner CNIM.”
