The Goodmans Field site is one of the largest jobs currently up for grabs and has sparked interest among all the major concrete frame players.
Berkeley is building four residential towers of up to 23-storeys on the site alongside a 251-room hotel, nearly 9,000 square metres of leisure and commercial space and a 17,778 square metre basement car park.
Mitchellson started on site just before Christmas on a £3.6m job to build the substructure podium for two of the towers.
The main tower packages are still up for grabs and the Enquirer understands a number of firms have taken tours of the site to see what is on offer.
One said: “It’s still at an early stage but we have been down there to have a look round and throw our hat in the ring.
“This will be one of the biggest residential-led developments in the country now the Olympic Athletes Village has finished and everyone is after a slice of it.”
Lee Demolition is currently finishing-up the £2m site clearance job at the former home of the Royal Bank of Scotland cheque clearing centre.
Aldgate is rapidly becoming a construction hotspot with Barratt building a £100m tower opposite the Berkeley job where Getjar has won the concrete frame package.
