Platforms improvements at James Street, Lime Street and Central Stations will involve replacing wall claddings to tunnels, escalators and passageways as well as retiling the floors and platforms.
Passenger access at Central Station will also be improved with the replacement of three escalators.
Jag Paddam, managing director of Infrastructure at Morgan Sindall, said: “On this project, whilst a number of the stations themselves will be closed, we will be undertaking a series of night time working schedules so that trains can continue to pass through and thus minimise disruption to the travelling public.”
Construction starts in April and the project is due for completion by August 2013.
