The new four-year framework has been developed following the award of £40m in affordable housing grant from the Housing and Communities Agency.
This will part fund the building of 2,104 homes across the country, with 955 built in the north.
To efficiently use the cash, the landlord is exploring rolling up new build and refurbishment works into separate regional frameworks, covering the south and north.
Work packages in the northern region will be shared out around eight firms. The scope of contract call offs may vary and will cover North East, Yorkshire & The Humber and North West regions as defined by the HCA.
The procurement team will also explore the possibility of extending the framework to 10 years to build longterm partner arrangements with its select list of firms.
