The university has started pre-tendering for a contractor to design and build the next 120,000 sq ft building at its Eastside campus.
The new site will house the university’s business school, plus education, law and social sciences departments.
Willmott Dixon is already working on the £61m phase one of Birmingham City University’s expansion programme after being awarded the contract last August.
Bidders for the next phase have been asked to find M&E contractors early on in the bidding process because of the high amount of communications technology and building services work.
The scope of works may also include site preparation and enabling works, demolition.
University project managers aims to procure the building as a single stage design and build JCT contract with novated design consultants.BIM design information to RIBA stage E will be novated to the winning contractor.
Further information is available from the University portal with PQQs returned by the end of June. Contact: Peter Cochrane, University Project Director.
