The upgrade will be to a 2km stretch of the road between the junction with the Tyburn Road and the M6 Junction 5.
Works will provide capacity improvements to the main junctions and to pedestrian and cycle facilities and will involve widening of carriageways and approaches to junctions, signalisation of junctions, upgrading pedestrian crossings, utility diversions, drainage, lighting, lining, signage, landscaping and traffic management.
Contractors have until August 28 to register their interest for the job which is expected to start on site next April and take nearly a year to complete.
