Contract race starts for £75m M25 upgrade

Firms are being invited to bid for a £75m civils framework as part of major improvement works on the M25 including a revamp of the Dartford River Crossing toll plaza.

The four-year deal will see winning bidders carry-out the work for the Connect Plus consortium of Balfour Beatty, Skanska, Atkins and Egis.

The framework will cover road infrastructure work including carriageway widening, drainage improvements, barrier installation, road signs and markings.

Work at Dartford will include rebuilding the toll booth plaza as part of plans to introduce “free flow” tolls at the site.
