The Alba Hubco, which includes Sweett Group, is preferred bidder pending formal agreement with the local council over funding of the primary school element of the campus project.
The Wick Community Campus project will replace the existing Wick High School, South Primary School, Pulteneytown Academy Primary School, the Carnegie Library and the community swimming pool.
Financing for the campus project is relatively complex. The replacement high school and community facilities project will receive a funding contribution from the Scottish Government’s Schools for the Future programme.
One condition of this funding is that the project must be progressed as a design build maintain and finance contract
The primary school element of the project is being financed by the local East Caithness council and will be let as a simple design and build contract.
Work is due to get underway in September after formal approval by the Government and local council.
