Project bosses today invited contractors to prequalify for the building project, which is estimated to have a construction value of £20m, exclusive of the university’s direct fitting-out works.
The design and build contract is broken down into three elements: an 80,000 sq ft academic building, a clinical skills centre and a veterinary pathology facility.
Five shortlisted firms are expected to be invited to submit bids in September in the hope of appointing the builder at the end of this year.
Work is then due to start in January 2014, with fit-out firms moving in under separate contracts in April 2015.
Further information and prequalification forms are available from the University’s procurement portal.
