Balfour Beatty’s northern office bid team beat rivals Carillion, Willmott Dixon and Vinci to the contract.

The two-year job will see the demolition of the existing 1960s Chamberlain block at The Vale student village to deliver 754 new student bedrooms.

The replacement blocks will be clad with wire cut facing brick and copper cladding panels.
